She Corporate FC have appointed former player Margret Namirimu as the club’s new Team Manager, just two months after she brought her playing career to an end.
Namirimu’s appointment marks a swift transition from the pitch into football administration, giving the former midfielder an opportunity to continue serving the club in a different capacity.
The former player enjoyed a career that saw her represent several schools and clubs in Ugandan women’s football, including Lubiri SS, Kibuli SS, Buikwe She Red Stars, Muteesa I Royal University and She Corporate FC.
Her journey at She Corporate gave her valuable experience within one of Uganda’s prominent women’s football setups, and she will now take on responsibilities away from the playing field as part of the club’s management structure.
Namirimu’s move into management comes only two months after her retirement, making the appointment a significant next step in her football career.
As Team Manager, she is expected to play an important role in coordinating the team’s activities and helping create a strong link between the players, technical staff and club administration.
Her familiarity with the playing environment could also provide valuable insight as she begins her new responsibilities. Having recently been part of the dressing room herself, Namirimu understands the demands faced by players and the challenges that come with competing at a high level.
Beyond her club career, Namirimu also represented Uganda at international level.
She was part of the Uganda Crested Cranes squad at the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), an experience that stands among the notable achievements of her playing career.
Representing Uganda at a continental tournament exposed Namirimu to the highest level of women's football on the continent and added valuable international experience to her career.
That background could prove useful in her new role, particularly as she begins to build experience in team management and administration.
Namirimu's appointment represents the beginning of a new chapter in her football journey. Rather than stepping away from the game following retirement, she has immediately taken up a leadership role within the club where she spent part of her playing career.
Her progression from player to Team Manager also highlights the growing opportunities for former players to remain involved in football after hanging up their boots.
With her playing experience, knowledge of the women's game and international exposure, Namirimu now begins the challenge of helping She Corporate FC from the management side.
For Namirimu, retirement from playing football has therefore not meant an exit from the sport. Instead, it has opened the door to a new role — one in which she will continue contributing to the development and success of She Corporate FC.
